As promised here is a project I recently finished in Va. I want to point out that even with a modest budget you can get completely custom pieces with high style and function if you have great resources.
Every piece of furniture in this make over, we had custom made. The upholstery pieces were made in NC. The sectional is from Boulevard Eco Upholstery (my collection). The case goods were made in PA by one of my fabulous vendors. I had to talk my client into the curtain panels. The budget had been exhausted and my homeowners weren't convinced they wanted them. I purchased ready made cotton duck panels and used the left over ottoman fabric to add a band to the bottom–something they could readily afford. The rug is a sisal from Surya. All in all, the result is pretty and sustainable.
Living Room Before
These chairs are from Hickory Chair. I think this is one of their styles that gives you a lot of bang for your buck and it is super comfy. The silk panels were made by my workroom. I bought the silk directly from the mill in a bolt, which kept the price wayyy down. We used the rest for coordinating panels in the dining room across the entryway. I have to merchandise the bookcase in the dining room, so it hasn't been photgraphed yet. The wine cabinet is a custom piece I designed and had made by a company located in MI. We painted the old mirror and…WAH LA, you can't even tell it is the same piece.
The wool rug is one of my favs from Surya (I've used it in a different color for another project), and is 100 percent wool. I reused the client's chest, added Candice Olsen lamps, some fresh flowers and a tray on the ottoman and the makeover is complete. So what do you think? I'm participating in Met Monday at Between Naps on the Porch and Blue Monday at Smiling Sals. Hop on over and see amazing transformations at BNOTP and cool Blue at Sals.

Nice and soothing.
Oh-h-h, the room turned out beautifully!
I am enjoying the new soft yellow with blue in my bedroom as well.
I like the way your after rooms look. Everything is sleek. Blues are the right choice. Happy Blue Monday.
Great transformation. I love the mix of greens and blues. So crisp, yet so inviting. Love it!

Great transformation…the curtains really add a lot to the room, so glad they went ahead with them :o)
holy cow!…These transformations are gorgeous!! I am definitely clicking on your “Follow Button”; please visit and do the same if you like what you see!
I love this makeover. Beautiful!
I love your rooms! I wish you lived near me. Do you have to go through a designer to order a Surya rug?
Jet, Surya rugs are retailed online and in catalogs. You don’t have to go through a designer but it is probably cheaper to do so. If you see one on their website you like, just let me know. You can buy it through me and I can have it shipped to your home. They have a very reasonable price point. I give a 50% discount off retail. FYI 90 percent of my current clients don’t live in the the Boston area. I have E decorating too.
Fabulous work! Love your line.
Kristin, thank you!
The grouping of 4 chairs around the coffee table is something I admire tremendously. I hope to do that one day in our living room.
I am thoroughly enjoying your site.
Your talent is clearly shown with these before and after pictures! Thank you for choosing the four Oxford Chairs by Hickory Chair to create an intimate seating area. We loved meeting you last week during HCC University. Thanks for sharing your latest Hickory Chair story with all of us!
