It has been a long time since I have blogged. I’m going to try and do it more often, but I have said that many times and have failed to deliver. High Point was so busy and fun this market, but I still feel like I’m recovering. We starting with a factory tour and VIP dinner for some interior designers Saturday evening at KDC in Hickory. We normally work a Sat am shift but asked our staff to voluntarily work Sat evening so they could be in action for the tour. I was blown away that just about everyone showed up. I’ll be honest, I got a little choked up when I walked down to the factory floor and they were all there. I was just expecting a handful of of key employees, and it really caught me off guard. Had to compose myself to give the tour. Here are some high light pics.

We had a pretty late night to start off HP.
I don’t love talking trends, it is counter to how I design but everyone likes to hear about them none the less. I think I will focus on my market favs. Some markets we see a pre-dominate color
and others…not so much. I’m happy to say, I saw a lot of color. All colors. Purple (as expected), Blue, Turquoise, Green…The one that surprised me the most was this Red-Orange.
The longer I’m in the business and the more I go to market, I find I focus on different things. As I look back at my pics, I see I have focused on the details. Belts seem to be all the rage.
I like the oddities more and more. I know most will think they are weird. I find them amusing. Maybe I’m becoming the cray cray old lady as I age.

I have a huge love of nail head detail as you can see from my furniture designs, but I had a mini freak out over these sconces at Robert Abbey. You can customize the color and nails. Speaking of Robert Abbey, that was one of my fav showrooms this market.
I am working on a wine room for a client, so when I unexpectedly came across this cork chandy at the Solaria showroom, I swooned. They had some really cool stuff.

Another high light, was being included with 14 other designers to take over the @DesignOnHPMKT Instagram account for a day.
My favorite post of the day was from the Palecek showroom. It was at the end of a long work/shopping day and we were getting ready to head out to the evening events. We had already put in a good 9 hours. I was with my friend Paula Grace and the KDC crew. There were 5 women and we needed to freshen up. What started innocently with a couple of us using the mirror wall to primp, turned into all of us then posing for their showroom peeps for a pic. I think I put lip liner on for five minutes.
I also found this really awesome looking free standing tub in G and J Styles. I have a master bath remodel in my future, so I decided to try it out. Properly…with a glass of wine. Sadly, it looked better than it felt. Total bummer, because the price was right too. For all you flippers out there, this is the tub for you.
Well that about sums it up. If you are a designer, and would like to tour the factory next market for our VIP dinner tours, please contact us through the website. We provide transportation to and from High Point w/ snacks and champs, a factory tour and education, and feed you a delicious dinner.
