Before I get down to the post I want to thank Kristi at Addicted to Design for the free Premier Listing in their Interior Designer Directory. I also want to congratulate my friend Paula Grace of Paula Grace Designs for being chosen by the Washington Post's Blog Watch.
Now down to business. Today I was in communication with a new client who is in the process of building a new home. We were discussing cabinetry for the kitchen. Like another very recent post I did on this same topic, she wasn't convinced to mix her cabinet finishes. The kitchen is very large and has a really nice size island. She asked me to send her some pics to illustrate this for her. So here are the pics I sent.
The first two are winners of the NKBA's 2009 contest. Which one do you prefer?

the 4th one, with the stone. Makes my knees weak. In a good way.
Thanks for the congrats! I like the second and fourth. If it is all the same, espcially in a large kitchen, it is to mundane. In harmony, there is unity and diversity. The change in the island adds the diversity and keeps things interesting and more pleasing to the eye ~ hands down!
Very nice Interior Design.
THose are some pretty kitchens!!!
I like number 4.
* Number 4, w/ all the stone, just floats my boat!!! (ANYthing w/ natural stone DOES!)~~~
Supremely DELICIOUS! Many thanks,

They are all so pretty. I love the feminity of the first island! I can’t say that I’ve seen that before. I also like 3 and 5. The fourth kitchen with all of the stone is the kitchen I can imagine having a great time in, talking to friends, etc.
